Erica Mena, a familiar face on Love & Hip Hop, has been let go from the franchise in the wake of her recent arrest following the Atlanta brawl.
Her removal from the show was further prompted by her use of a racial slur directed at a fellow co-star during a recent episode of Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta. Love & Hip Hop made an official statement on Saturday (September 2) through its Instagram account to elaborate on their decision.
The statement from Love & Hip Hop reads: “The Love & Hip Hop franchise has consistently engaged in important dialogues within our community. Collaborating closely with our partners, viewers can expect to witness the consequences of Erica Mena’s comments unfold in the remaining three episodes of the season. With immediate effect, she will not be part of the upcoming season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.
Erica Mena was arrested at Buckhead bar
Erica Mena’s recent legal troubles have garnered significant attention. On August 25, she was arrested at a Buckhead bar and faced multiple charges, including simple battery, battery against a police officer, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers by use of threats or violence (a felony), and simple battery.
The incident unfolded when Erica Mena, along with fellow Love & Hip-Hop personalities Rodney Shaw (known as Zellswag) and Addie Richardson (also known as Bambi Richardson), as well as Atlanta resident Kareem Cadet (unrelated to the reality TV franchise), were taken into custody.
Atlanta Police were summoned to Lucca Lounge around 11:40 p.m. local time following a dispute on the premises. Upon arrival, the responding officer encountered a physical altercation between three patrons and the establishment’s security personnel. The officer attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the suspects reacted aggressively towards him. After being escorted out of the venue, they were promptly arrested. During the altercation, Mena was accused of biting a police officer. She was later released from custody after posting a $20,000 bond.
Furthermore, Erica Mena made headlines on Twitter after a video surfaced of her using a derogatory term, referring to her Love & Hip-Hop co-star Spice as a “monkey” during a heated argument. As of now, Mena has not publicly addressed her removal from the show.
