This week, a young person in Mohave County was arrested after threatening to do just that on social media. Thankfully, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office took it seriously and tracked down the kid.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the whole thing was a bad dare. The kid admitted to posting the threat, but claims they never meant to actually do anything. Still, making threats like that is a big deal, and the juvenile is now facing charges.
Here’s the important part:
The Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure everyone feels safe. Even though they believe this was a one-time thing, they’re adding extra security at schools in the area for peace of mind.
This might remind you of some recent happenings in Southern Utah, where schools were targeted by similar threats. Luckily, those all turned out to be fake. Remember the bomb threat near Snow Canyon High? Fake news! And the “active shooter” reports at Hurricane High? Not real either.
The takeaway from Mohave County?
School threats are serious, even if they’re not real. Let’s all work together to keep our schools safe and keep jokes where they belong – not online and causing a scare.
